Saturday, August 8
Following breakfast, we all meet in the hotel lobby and drive to Tarpon Springs for a boat ride to “Anclote Key Preserve State Park.”
Upon return from the boat ride, we will have lunch at one of the wonderful Greek Restaurants in the immediate area.
After lunch, we will spend time in Tarpon Springs, which is renowned as the “Sponge Capital of the World,” featuring the largest natural sponge docks and industry.
Sunday, Aug 9
Following breakfast, we will meet in the hotel lobby and depart for our outing. This year we will be holding a swim a thon at “Clearwater Beach.”

About Saturday’s Boat Ride
Duration: 2 hours (includes boarding time).
This island is located just 3 miles off the coast of Tarpon Springs, and is the premier island for finding seashells. This is only accessible by boat, kayak, or ferry. These pristine, uninhibited islands—including North Anclote are renowned for sand dollars, fighting conchs, and lightning whelks.
- Go Shelling and Swimming on Shell Island!
- This cruise allows you to get off the boat and onto the island!
- The captain will narrate during this tour so all you have to do is relax
- Make sure to keep your eyes out for local wildlife!
- They have a full liquor bar available on board as well as drink specials!
- Dolphin-spotting opportunities
- Views of the historic Anclote Lighthouse
- Onboard refreshments including beer, wine, and margaritas
- Comfortable seating and restrooms onboard
- Great photo ops—so bring your camera!
