VITILIGO AWARENESS MONTH

WHEREAS, Vitiligo is a genetic, autoimmunie disorder of unknown origin that affects many Americans both physically and emotionally; and

WHEREAS, the National Institute of Health estimages one percent of all Americans are afflicted with Vitiligo, regardless of gender, age or ethnicity; and

WHEREAS, those afflicted with Vitiligo run teh risk of Addison's disease, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, pernicious anemia and alopecia areata;

and

WHEREAS, Vitiligo Awareness Month informs the public and seeks to increase acceptance of those with the disease;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Charlie Crist, Governor of the State of Florida, do hereby extend greetings and well wishes to all observing April 2007 as Vitiligo Awareness Month.
